Announcing the Code Protectors

A green door locked with a padlock.

The OpenSSL Library is one of the world’s best known cryptographic libraries. Used by countless companies around the world, it provides data privacy and security to millions of end users. Today, we are announcing a new way for companies who value this vital internet infrastructure to support us: the Code Protectors sponsorship program.

The Code Protectors program provides companies with a range of sponsorship benefits commensurate with their level of support. We offer five sponsorship levels, from the “pay what you can” Copper level to the Platinum level of $50,000 or more.

We proudly recognize our sponsors in many ways and provide our most generous Code Protectors with special access and engagement opportunities. At the Platinum level, for example, Code Protectors receive:

  • The opportunity for quarterly virtual meetings between your staff and members of the OpenSSL Foundation staff, where we will explore and discuss areas of particular interest to your security team.
  • The opportunity to have a virtual presentation by OpenSSL Foundation staff to an internal or external audience of your choice. We will work with you to identify the topic and the appropriate Foundation staff member to meet your needs, whether that’s for a staff speaker series or your security team’s annual staff retreat.
  • Logo recognition in a variety of locations, including the OpenSSL Foundation and OpenSSL Library home pages, the Foundation’s Sponsors page and annual report, and in all presentations made by OpenSSL Foundation staff at industry conferences.

We invite you to join the Code Protectors and help keep the internet safe and secure for millions of people everywhere. Because multi-year support is so impactful, we offer a 10% discount to companies that make a 3-year commitment. If you are interested in targeted support or a custom sponsorship arrangement, we offer those too. Contact us for a conversation and more information.

Thank you to our current Code Protectors:

  • Bloomberg, one of our first-ever Platinum sponsors
  • NetApp, a Gold sponsor who also helps shape the future of the OpenSSL Project through participation in our Business Advisory Committee
  • Shiguredo, a Silver sponsor who has the longest record of consecutive giving to the OpenSSL Foundation
  • Sakura Internet, a long-time Bronze sponsor
  • Copper sponsors, babiel and Mercedes-Benz, who support OpenSSL through Github Sponsors.
